It was the closest I’ve ever come to throwing up during an audio/video demonstration. Then again, Sky-Skan is the first integrator that has shown me a full-length planetarium movie to demonstrate its installed technology.
The Nashua, N.H.-based integrator recently designed and installed the audio, video and automation system for the Boston Museum of Science’s Charles Hayden Planetarium. The 57-foot-diameter theater, which originally opened in 1958, had been closed for most of 2010 for a much-needed $9 million rebuild and overhaul, $3.5 million of which was dedicated to technology.
Sky-Skan marketing director Marcus Weddle, theater designer Kurt Berna and I sat among 206 other audience members for a full-house presentation of Other Worlds, a dynamic film about research on faraway galaxies.
